When installing windows and doors, many people find it difficult to choose the most suitable opening mode. Today, we will analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the three most popular opening modes among Xingfa’s customers: outward-opening windows, inward-opening windows, and sliding windows. After reading, you may have your answer.

1. Outward-Opening Window

Advantages: Good ventilation. Does not occupy indoor space or interfere with the use of curtains. Suitable for small-sized apartments.

Disadvantages: Potential safety hazards. Recommended width of the opening sash: <650mm. When opening the window, the screen window must be opened first, which may allow mosquitoes to enter. Additionally, due to the handle's position, you need to reserve space for both the screen window and the handle, leading to wasted space.

2. Inward-Opening Window

Advantages:Suitable for high-rise buildings. The inward-opening sash eliminates concerns about windows falling due to strong winds. Additionally, in cold regions, snow accumulation and ice formation are common in winter. If outward-opening windows are used, the snow and ice on the window may increase its weight, putting significant pressure on the hardware, which could even lead to window damage or detachment, posing a potential safety risk. In contrast, inward-opening windows are not affected by snow and ice, making them safer and more reliable.

Disadvantages:Occupies indoor space and interferes with curtain use. It can be easy to bump into or get hurt while cleaning or if children are playing nearby. Not recommended for small-sized apartments. However, inward-opening and inward-tilting modes can effectively avoid these issues while maintaining good ventilation.

3. Sliding Window

Advantages: Does not occupy indoor or outdoor space. Its opening area can reach half the total window size, providing better ventilation than a casement window.

Disadvantages: Poor thermal insulation. Requires an independent slide track and a relatively thick wall for the opening sash.

These three modes each have their own advantages, and you can choose a suitable product according to your space needs. For example, Xingfa windows and doors use an inlaid sealing structure between the window sash and the frame. At the closing points, we use double sealing with anti-collision sealing strips and silicone wool strips, offering higher wind resistance, heat insulation, and sound insulation compared to ordinary windows and doors.

No matter which mode you choose, it’s always safer and better to opt for high-quality materials and trusted brands for windows and doors.
