The market for aluminum windows and doors is growing larger, and many buildings now install them. Therefore, it’s important for consumers to learn how to distinguish whether the quality of aluminum profiles is good or not.  

So, how can you judge the quality of aluminum windows and doors? Whether it's an interior aluminum door (including partition doors) or windows, you should pay attention to the following considerations when choosing these products.

 

1.Material

The main materials for aluminum windows and doors generally include three parts: aluminum profiles, glass, and hardware. People tend to focus on the thickness of the aluminum profiles and glass when choosing a product, often overlooking the hardware, which isn’t comprehensive. In fact, there are national standards for these components. High-quality aluminum doors and windows generally meet the national standards for aluminum profiles in terms of film thickness, strength, and oxide film. For example, relevant national regulations require that the wall thickness of aluminum profiles for windows and doors should be ≥1.8mm, and the thickness of the oxide film should reach 10 microns. Moreover, tempered glass is generally better than ordinary glass. For safety and durability, stainless steel hardware accessories (such as screws, hinges, and handles) are better than aluminum ones, and the best material for rollers is POM because it provides higher strength, wear resistance, durability, and smooth operation.

  

2.Processing  

After selecting high-quality materials, the next step is processing. Due to lower technological demands and a lower degree of mechanization, most of the processing work still relies on manual labor. This requires operators to have a strong sense of product quality. It is crucial to enhance operators' proficiency and product awareness during production. High-quality aluminum doors and windows exhibit precise accuracy, smooth cutting lines, and consistent angles (typically 45° or 90° for the main frame material). During assembly, there should be no obvious gaps, ensuring excellent sealing performance and smooth operation. In contrast, poor production processes can lead to low-quality aluminum doors and windows, especially outdoor products, which may have sealing issues, air and water leaks, and even cause glass breakage or detachment, potentially leading to property damage or personal injury in strong winds or under external forces.

  

3.Appearance

When choosing aluminum windows and doors, people usually pay attention to the appearance and decorative patterns of the glass, but often overlook the composite film on the surface of the products. This film is formed by anodizing or powder coating, giving it characteristics such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and high gloss. Therefore, it’s a good idea to compare several similar products before making a decision.

 

4.Price

The price of aluminum windows and doors is directly related to the price of aluminum ingots, but generally speaking, it remains relatively stable over a certain period. In general, high-quality aluminum windows and doors are about 30% more expensive than inferior products, which often use recycled aluminum profiles that contain many impurities. Some aluminum profiles have wall thicknesses as low as 0.6–0.8 mm, significantly below national standards in terms of tensile and yield strength. Such aluminum doors and windows, especially outdoor ones, are very unsafe. Therefore, when selecting products, it is important to prioritize safety over temporary cost savings.

 

5.Performance  

Different applications of windows and doors require different performance characteristics, but the following aspects should generally be considered. Strength is primarily reflected in the aluminum profiles' ability to withstand extreme pressure. Airtightness is primarily shown in the sealing between the inner sash and outer frame, particularly for outdoor windows. Watertightness can be assessed by checking whether there is water accumulation or leakage. Sound insulation depends on the effectiveness of hollow glass, special soundproof seals, as well as the opening and closing force, heat insulation, and durability of nylon guide wheels, locks, and other accessories.
