Currently, the most popular types of aluminium windows on the market, sliding window and casement windows, are mainly different in the opening modes, and they present different beauty in home decor.

On the basis of using same glasses and fittings, both sliding windows and casement windows have their own respective characteristics. Next, there is a detailed analysis about their respective characteristics in appearance, performance, price, and function.

1. Appearance

Thermal break aluminum casement windows offer great flexibility with sashes, and the opening sash only occupies a small area of the entire window. They are mainly used in buildings that require a strict overall aesthetic, particularly in line with architects' preferences for large divisions, spaciousness, brightness, transparency, and a harmonious and beautiful appearance.

Thermal break aluminum sliding windows are not suitable for large fixed glass panels because their design only allows for horizontal sliding.

2. Wind Pressure Resistance

Generally, casement windows have a small profile section. Since casement windows have a small profile section, the main load-bearing members, splicing materials, and vertical components are correspondingly strengthened during the design process.

Sliding windows have a larger profile section, and logically speaking, their wind pressure resistance should be better. However, their wind pressure resistance is generally not ideal. The reason is that, upon more in-depth force analysis, it is apparent that the main load-bearing members are often the middle frames, and they rely only on rollers to resist the wind.

3. Water Tightness

The sealing effect of the opening parts determines the water tightness of windows and doors. Generally, casement windows are sealed with rubber strips, while sliding windows are sealed with wool strips. The sealing effect of rubber is generally better than that of wool.

4. Air Tightness

In terms of air tightness, casement windows on the market currently use two-point locks or sash locks for locking and sealing the opening parts, providing a better sealing effect. On the other hand, sliding windows are generally locked with hook locks or latch locks.

5. Price

In terms of price, there is little difference between the same grade of casement windows and sliding windows. The price of casement windows is slightly higher than that of sliding windows.

There are many factors that affect the price of windows and doors. Therefore, the price is not fixed even if the profile is the same; it will vary according to regions and brands.

6. Craftsmanship

Sliding windows generally have a simple structure without special requirements for machinery, making them convenient for on-site processing and installation.

For casement windows, a good corner crimping machine is needed to produce high-quality windows, as their sashes are usually connected by aluminum alloy.

In fact, both casement windows and sliding windows have their own advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, their prices also vary. For customers, it is important to choose suitable windows and doors that are tailored to their budgets, needs, and the actual conditions of their rooms.
