Thermal break aluminium windows and doors start to be more and more popular in the market because of their outstanding advantages in strength, thermal insulation, rigidity, fire resistance, lighting area, corrosion resistance, comprehensive performance, service life, decorative effects and so on. High-end thermal break aluminium windows and doors have gradually become the first choice for high-end buildings.

Why is it called thermal break aluminium?

The “bridge” in the name “thermal break aluminium” means the “thermal bridge” in material science. In particular, as a metal with relatively high thermal conductivity, aluminium alloy will act as a “bridge” to transfer heat, when there is a obvious temperature difference between indoors and outdoors. Therefore, windows and doors that made of such material are in poor thermal insulation performance. However, thermal break aluminium is made by breaking the aluminium alloy in the middle and then connecting the two parts with thermal insulation strips that can prevent heat from easily passing through the whole material. As a result,  the thermal insulation performance improves. It is the origin of the name “thermal break aluminium”.

Generally speaking, thermal break aluminium windows and doors consist of two main components: the thermal break insulation aluminium profile and insulating glass.

How to distinguish good quality thermal break aluminium profiles?

a. Thickness of aluminium profile: For general home decoration products, the national standard stipulates that the thickness of aluminium profile should be more than or equal to 1.6mm.

b. Thermal insulation strip: According to national standards, the most important part of thermal break aluminium profile, thermal insulation strip, must be made of PA66 nylon. However, in fact, many aluminium profile manufacturers in the market tend to use PVC plastic thermal insulation strips that are cheaper, which will seriously impact the products’ service life and safety.

Thermal break aluminium windows and doors have gradually become the new preference of the window and door market and already won more market recognition, due to their excellent performance.
